The Death of the Swan

The story is set in Paris in 1935. Éliane Dubois, the youngest and most celebrated principal ballerina of the Paris Opera, has just risen to fame with her triumphant performance in Swan Lake. Admired by the world and protected by family and tradition, she appears untouchable—yet in truth, she lives like a swan trapped inside a gilded cage.

After her premiere, she meets Hans Schmidt, a German journalist who sees beyond her flawless technique and recognizes the fragile humanity hidden within her dance.

They are quickly drawn into a forbidden love:

a French ballet icon and a German outsider,

art colliding with freedom,

private desire torn apart by the rising weight of history.

As the shadow of Nazism spreads across Europe, their love becomes more than scandalous. It becomes dangerous—perhaps fatal.
